Frequently asked questions
- Which formats can it make?
- PNG, JPG and WebP. Those are the three a browser can genuinely write, and between them they cover almost everything anyone asks for: PNG as a lossless master with transparency, JPG for anywhere that will not take anything else, and WebP for the web.
- Why is AVIF not offered?
- Because no browser can create one. Every current browser can display AVIF, but none can encode it, so a tool that offered it would quietly hand back a PNG with the wrong extension on it. Leaving it out is the honest option.
- Can it make an SVG?
- No, and nothing can. SVG is a vector format, meaning it describes shapes rather than pixels, so a photograph or a flat image cannot be turned into one without redrawing it. If you need a vector logo, it has to come from the original design file.
- What happens to transparency in the JPG?
- JPG has no transparency, so anything see-through is filled in. The tool lets you choose the color it is filled with, and it defaults to white. The PNG and WebP in the same batch keep their transparency untouched.
- Can I convert several images at once?
- Yes. Drop in as many as you like and every one is made in every format you ticked, so five images across three formats gives you fifteen files in a single ZIP.
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Every conversion runs in your own browser using the Canvas API, and the ZIP is built there too. The files never leave your device and nothing is stored.
